The Libero Jersey Fits: Kreimann Handles a Season-High 13 Serves at Colony

Thirteen receive attempts at a 2.00, eight digs and a perfect night from the service line in her first full match at libero — a tough road loss the Lions competed for to the end.

Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. · September 24, 2026

The result went Colony's way. The ball, for most of the night, went to No. 4.

Alta Loma freshman Kayla Kreimann started at libero for the first time in her high school season Wednesday at Colony, and the Titans tested her early and often: 13 serve-receive attempts in the portion of the match captured on film, more than she had faced in any single match all year. She passed a 2.00 on them — six perfect passes, two more in system, one error — on the road, in a new jersey, against a team that was serving with purpose.

The rest of the libero job came with it. Kreimann dug eight balls in two sets, went four for four from the service line, and turned two of her seven second-ball touches into assists when the first contact took the setter out of the play. One receive error in thirteen. No serving errors. No dig errors.

It was a tough loss for the Lions, and the film shows a team that competed for every point of it — a sliding floor save, a jump serve, teammates crowding together after the points they won. Kreimann's night is one thread of that, not the whole story, and that is how she would tell it.

What changed

For the first fifteen matches Kreimann passed from right back, rotating through the seams with a different partner in every rotation. The libero jersey moves her to the middle of the court and hands her the volume: at Colony she took nearly half of Alta Loma's serve-receive attempts that were on film. Her previous single-match high was nine. A 2.00 at that volume, from that seat, on the first night, is the number in this report that a coach will circle.

She had done it once before in a smaller sample — one set at libero at the Santiago Tournament eleven days earlier, seven attempts at a 2.57 with seven digs and no errors. Colony was the first full match, and the first against a team that made her earn it.

A note on the numbers

Alta Loma's camera captured roughly a set and a quarter of the two sets played, and HUDL's tracking covers only what was filmed. Every figure in this report is from that footage. The full match was longer than the stat line.

The season, through 16 matches

Through 16 matches and 32 sets, Kreimann is passing a 2.02 on 85 attempts, with 46 percent graded perfect and 67 percent keeping her setter in system. She has 22 aces at 92 percent of serves in play (107 attempts, nine errors), 57 digs without a dig error, and 22 second-ball setting attempts without a setting error.
