The first high school match of a career only happens once. Kayla Kreimann made hers count.
The freshman defensive specialist anchored the back row across all three sets Thursday as Alta Loma's JV squad defeated Upland 2–1, finishing with 11 digs and a 2.42 serve-receive rating on seven attempts — without a single reception error.
Playing right back in her JV debut, Kreimann showed the trait that separates back-row players at every level: consistency under first-match nerves. Seven serves came her way; seven times the ball went up clean, with a passing rating that would grade out as excellent at any level of high school volleyball.
The Class of 2030 defender, who also competes for IMUA UVC's 15UA squad, added five serves of her own in the winning effort, landing four.
Upland pushed the match to a deciding set, but Alta Loma's back-row control told the story — the Lions' first-year defensive specialist repeatedly kept broken plays alive, converting Upland attacks into transition chances with 11 digs across three sets.
